The people at Ideal PT in Irving are competent, professional, friendly, and very effective.
Ryan McGee from Ideal Therapy was awesome. I have been suffering from plantar fasciitis for over a year now, and my podiatrist recommended Ideal Therapy for my foot problem. I like the fact that Ryan explained things in detail to me, on why these different exercises was important for my feet. He gave me enough knowledge to perform these exercises at home. My pain has reduced, and I can visually see my feet getting stronger.
Ryan is passionate about his work and continues to grow a strong practice in Irving. He's extremely invested in serious, lasting results, not simply checking boxes and running patients out the door. His staff is enthusiastic, professional and genuinely fun to be around. I looked forward to the positive atmosphere the IDEAL team worked to build each session. Few health care providers can bolster than kind of enthusiasm in their patients.
Background. I was referred to them by my GP for frozen shoulders in January. My ability to move my arms had deteriorated rapidly in the prior 3 months and was getting worse. X-Ray and MRI yielded a diagnosis of adhesive capsulitis. Contributing to it were tendinosis, mild fraying/tearing of a tendon, mild arthritis and inflammation of the tendons and bursa of both shoulder capsules, especially the left. It also revealed a type II configuration acromion, which reduces the room the tendons have to move during articulation. The pain had grown so severe, that when I made the wrong sudden arm movement, like reflexively jerking it away from something, or throwing my arms forward to dive in a pool, or just swatting a fly, the paroxysm of pain was almost enough to make me pass out. Codeine couldn't touch that pain, though it did relieve the usual pain at night and allow sleep, though always on my back, not the sides.
I went to Ideal Physical Therapy for the rehabilitation after a month I fractured my right arm. I have almost worked with entire team at Ideal physical therapy, they are amazing people. Most of the times i have worked with Ryan, he is very professional and experienced. He will explain you about each exercise what impact it has on your body. Now I am doing great. I would definitely recommend Ideal Physical therapy to everyone.
The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was my aversion to pain. Pain and a busy schedule are my excuses for not doing the homework as much as I should have. Some kinds of pain are tolerable, like normal stretching pain. But some exercises (like the arm behind the back stretch) caused the kind of "nerve" pain normally associated with a dental drill. I have no psychological defense against that kind of pain. Worse, the whole shoulder would sometimes spasm in reaction, compounding the agony. But that only happened at first until I learned the limits and kept the pain below the maximum tolerable threshold. Over the weeks, that threshold was pushed back as the scar tissue associated with the condition gradually cleared out and the tendons and muscles limbered up.
Yesterday was my last session and I have almost all my range of motion back, and can sleep on my right side all night and on the left for a few hours. So there is a little more left to do, especially the left arm. But they taught me well, and so I intend to continue with the home exercises. I am hopeful I can get them back to 100% without surgery. That was also the opinion of the orthopedist I saw a week ago, who said he was was very impressed by the results.
So a big thank you to Ryan, Morgan and all the rest for all they did, and for all they taught me, and for making a difficult regimen bearable. I cannot recommend them enough.
I have and will continue to recommend IDEAL Physical Therapy to anyone in need of a great health care practitioner and clinic.
My experience was amazing!!! I went into Ideal for issues with my shoulder and got great assistance and feedback regarding my injury. The team is super friendly and helpful. I've had an amazing recovery thanks to those guys. I completely recommend Ideal Physical Therapy.
My first PT session was Feb 2, and they started me right off with a regimen of therapeutic stretching exercises I could handle. At the end of the exercises, I received manual therapy (Ryan stretching me out), then usually ultrasound therapy, and to cap it all off, electric stimulation combined with cold packs.
I should mention that I give most of the credit for the progress to Ryan's expert manual therapy. He not only knew when my maximum pain threshold was reached, but just how long and hard to slightly exceed it without ever doing damage. He applied pressure to just the right spots to prevent spasms and attenuate pain, allowing the stretches to go beyond what I could do alone. After a while, I came to believe the homework was mostly consolidating the gains made by Ryan's manual therapy, so can't praise his skill enough.
My experience with this team was great. My results...even better!
After the first day the arms felt noticeably better, and they progressed slowly but steadily over the next few weeks. After discussing it with my orthopedist and Ryan, I was convinced that I could speed up progress by having cortisone shots, and it worked. Over the next month, the combination of the shots (1 per arm), PT twice a week, and home exercises reduced the pain and extended my movement range greatly. I was not as diligent doing the home exercises as I should have been, doing about an hour 3-5 days a week at first, tapering down to 2-3 days a week by this week.
